KAWANGWARE MEDICAL CAMP

On 25th April 2015, the Bank sponsored a free medical camp in Kawangware, one of the slums in Nairobi, Kenya. The sponsorship was in partnership with the Association of Nigerian Women in Kenya (ANWIK), customers of the Bank. The aim of the medical camp was to bring health services closer to the less fortunate in the society. This was in line with the CSR pillars of the Bank. Kawangware is a slum in Nairobi, about 15km west of the city centre, between Lavington and Dagoretti. The slum’s population is approximately 800,000 people with 65% being children and youths. The free medical camp sponsorship saw over 700 people receive medical attention from Nairobi City County and Kenyatta National Hospital medics. The medical camp offered comprehensive health service among them being curative, preventive, and referral.
