MATHARI UNIVERSITY

On 11th April, 2015 a group of 37 trainees from the ongoing GTBank Training School visited the Mathari Hospital as part of giving back to the community. Mathari Hospital is a national referral hospital for Psychiatry and the main teaching psychiatric unit. The group, dubbed ‘Knights’ took part in a number of activities among them: cleaning of the facility, sweeping and slashing. They also donated foodstuff, water buckets, jembes and slashers. Apart from presentation of the donations, the team played and sang with patients whose creativity was marveling. The interaction with the patients and medics at the hospital was emotional but gave them an opportunity of hope and encouragement.
